Just a few lines in answer to your welcome letters that you wrote when you were home Xmastime. They only turned up last night. We had three months mail somewhere but I got ten last night.
We are having a bit warmer weather now, and have got old Fritz going that fast we have a job to keep up with him.

Dear Aunt April 5 NF
Just a few lines in answer to your very welcome letter that I received last night. If we go on at the pace we are going now we will be in Germany in a week or two time. They said in there letter from home that Tom used to go for the cows every morning he must be getting a bit of a jockey

"5679 Private Sydney Cooper, 48th Battalion. A farmer prior to enlisting on 14 April 1916, Pte Cooper embarked for overseas service on 27 June 1916. He was appointed to the rank of Lance Corporal (L Cpl) on 5 January 1917. L Cpl Cooper was killed in action in France on 11 April 1917, aged 22 years old." - SOURCE (www.awm.gov.au)
