Fred Stewart Webb was born on the 17th May 1897 at Semaphore, South Australia to John Harry Webb and Margaret Eliza Hull. He was the second youngest of three boys, the other brothers being Millington Robert Webb and Trevor Roberts Powell Buller Webb. Fred grew up in Millicent, and prior to enlisting, he worked for the E, S & A Bank as a Clerk. Fred signed up on the 26th May, 1915, nine days after his 18th Birthday. He was first attached to Australian Field Artillery 18th Bty. 6th A.F.A Brigade as a Gunner, late of 4th Light horse Brigade as a Driver. Fred died from complications of double bronchial pneumonia in the 6th Canadian General Hospital, France and was buried at Joinville-le-Pont Communal Cemetery Departement du Val-de-MarneÎle-de-France France, Division 13, Grave 5
