Trooper Mervyn Kenneth Lynch (Service No:348) enlisted in the AIF as a Private on 28 February 1917 and embarked with 7th Light Horse Regiment on 3 September 1917 from Sydney for Suez on board HMAT A55 Kyarra. Trooper Lynch embarked from Kantara for the RTA on 28 June 1919 on board HT Madras and was attached to 7th Light Horse Regiment at Discharge on 27 October 1919.

Private Lynch then served in WWII, enlisting in the ACMF on 16 April 1942 (Service No:N172379) and served with 2nd Line of Communication (L of C) Signals - his date of Discharge is not given.

Born in 1898 in Narromine NSW, Mervyn was eldest of six children of Thomas Henry Lynch (b1877 in Terrick Terrick, Victoria) and Anne (Annie) Peake (b1878 at Spring Hill, NSW). Thomas (a Farmer) and Annie married in 1899 in Dubbo, NSW and settled in Narromine where they raised  their family and Thomas was a Farmer at Trangie, Narromine. Annie died in 1922 and in 1929 Thomas died of blood poisoning resulting from a cut recieved when shaving.

Marvyn was a Farmer in Trangie, NSW when he enlisted in the AIF, and following his Discharge was in Hay, NSW in 1926 when he married Mary Magdalene Kelly (b1907 in Hay, NSW). Mervyn and Mary lived in Merriwagga and Condobolin where Mervyn worked as a Well Driller before settling in Sydney in the early 1940s. Mervyn had joined the Post Master General's Department by 1942 and worked in Sydney as a Telephone Linesman until retirement in 1962. Mervyn died in 1965 and Mary in 1981.
