Biography contributed by Faithe Jones

Son of William and Alice LINGLEY, Muckadilla Hotel, Muckadilla, Queensland

Just as the Lingley family were rejoicing over the news of peace on Monday evening, as mentioned in my previous report, (writes our Muckadilla correspondent) Miss Lingley was in the midst of arranging a concert for Jack's Day on Saturday evening next, the appallingly sad news was received from the Defence department that Private William Lingley had  died on November 5 at the front from pneumonia. No previous word of his illness had been received, although it was known for some time that he was far from well.  It was the proudest moment of his life when he passed the doctor for active service a little over two years ago. He was a particularly well-behaved lad, and was extremely popular  throughout the West, where he followed the occupation of a wool-classer. His father died some 12 months ago. While the war news is particularly pleasing, it is very sad news, and widespread sympathy  is extended to the Lingley family needless to say, Jack's Day contcert has been cancelled.
