MR. JOHN BEDE MALONE.
One of the original Anzacs, Mr. John Bede Malone died at South Sydney Hospital on the 17th ult., at the age of 46 years. He belong to tlie 3rd Battalion, and held tlie rank of King's Sergeant. Born at Braidwood. N.S.W., he was a son of the late James Malone and Mrs. Catherine Malone, who survives her son and belongs to one of the pioneer families of the Penrith district, and is 82 years of age. Deceased was connected with tlie Prison's Department, Goulburn, and it was in Goulburn he enlisted. Since his return from the front he had been in indifferent health. For a while he settled on the land at Moree, but his health prevented him from carrying on. Since then he spent the greater part of his time in and around Sydney and suburbs. Masses were celelbrated for the repose of the soul of the late Mr. Malone on the morning of the 18th, at St. Mark's Church (Dmmmoyne), Mount Carmel (Waterloo), and St. Thomas' (Willoughby). The funeral left St. Mark's Church, accompanied by Rev. Father P. T. Boland, who officiated at the graveside. Rev. Father McGovern (an old friend of the family) was also present. The funeral arrangements were carried out by Wood Coffill, Ltd.
