Arthur enlisted in WWII as a cook (W36563), falsely giving his year of birth as 1890. He was actually born in Glamorgan, Wales in 1876.

Arthur married Jane BILLINGTON in Preston, Lancashire in 1900. They had seven children. He enlisted in WWI in Blackboy Hill WA in December 1914, giving his age as 41 and his next of kin as wife Jane in Preston.

Jane and the children eventually joined him in WA and they settled in the inner Perth suburb of Maylands.

Three sons also served. Arthur died in 1945 and was interred in Perth War Cemetery, Karrakatta.
