FORMER LIGHTWEIGHT HORSE
MAN.
LAUNCESTON, Sunday. - Mr. Alfred ("Gordon") Jordan, a former successful lightweight jockey in Tasmania, died at the Launceston General Hospital yesterday at the age of 40 years. The late Mr. Jordan was the second son of Mr. Alfred Jordan, the Hobart racehorse trainer. He served with the 3rd Light Horse, A.I.F., in the Great War. Many years ago he was involved in a serious accident at Mowbray, when his mount collided with a wooden arm during a preliminary gallop. He looked after Baanya when that horse was trained by his father during the time Baanya was so successful in Melbourne. His brother, Mr. L. Jordan, is a trainer at Launceston.

After his return from the war he worked for the Postal Department as a letter carrier, but he did not have good health. In his last illness he was in hospital for about a fortnight. The funeral to Carr Villa will take place this afternoon.
