Albert was actually 52 years old when he enlisted but stated on his attestment papers that he was 44 years old, son of George Holland Knapton & Eliza (nee Herring). He was discharged 11 January 1918 in England and transferred to Weymouth as an Australian munitions worker due to his age and being unfit for active service. His Australian Munition Worker Service number is 2670. He departed England on 13 March 1919 on the S.S. Eastern
