Served his apprenticeship with James White of Bellingen, NSW

Brother of John Edward Hickey who returned to Australia on 1 September 1919 having served with the 2d Remount Unit and Richard William Hickey who returned to Australia on 26 November 1915 having served with the 15th Battalion

Returned to Australia on 12 March 1919 aboard SS Melusia
