Mr. Samuel Hastings, who died on Saturday at Anzac-terrace, Bassendean, had been health inspector for many years to the Belmont Park, Bayswater and Bassendean road boards. He retired from that position some time ago because of ill-health. Born in Monie Eive, Scotland, 53 years ago, he had lived in Western Australia for 25 years. He saw active service in the South African war and in the Great War. In the Australian Infantry Forces he was a member of the 11th Battalion. The widow, two daughters and one son survive him.
