Son of John Joseph Foster and Johanna Foster nee Furlong of 157 Chestnut Street, Richmond, Victoria. Brother of Mary Foster of Windsor, Victoria and Eric Foster who returned to Australia on the 16 October 1916 havin served with the 60th Battalion

Commenced return to Australia on 28 March 1919 aboard HT City of Poona disembarking on the 14 May 1919

During 1920c Leslie married Lydia Mary Hunter in Victoria

In June 1967 he was residing at 54 Vincent Street, Glen Iris, Victoria
