Sir William Yeo CBE was elected Stae President of the RSL in NSW in 1949 a position he held until 1969.  He also held the position of Vice President of the National RSL.  His service as a strecther bearer in WW1 influnced his career as an RSL man wanting to serve the men who had given so much for their country. His most demanding role as Chief Commissioner of the Australian Forces Overseas Fund, during his time in the post he raise thousands of dollars to provide entertainment and amenities for the Australian troops in Vietnam.  He was awarded a Life membership in the RSL in 1954.  This was followed with a CBE for his work for veterans in 1964. His wife Eileen worked with him and encouraged him in his efforts for returned service personel, she is continuing this work.
