War Service/Promotions:   Promoted to Trooper on 18 January 1918. He was a Trooper in the 7th Light Horse from 4th to 20th February 1918. On 18 February 1918 he applied from the Menangle Camp in Sydney to be transferred from 7th Light Horse Reinforcements to 6th Light Horse Reinforcements, and was transferred on 20 February 1918. Disembarked Suez, Egypt, 7 June 1918. Infirm, Moascar, Egypt, 7 June 1918. On 5 July 1918 sent to 2nd Stationary Hospital, Moascar, with mumps. Transferred to a rest camp on 25 July 1918. Rejoined unit 7 August 1918. On 13 October 1918, he was placed in 1st Australian Machine Gun Squadron, 2nd section, 1st Australian Light Horse Brigade. Taken on strength 19 October 1918 Wadi Hamman. Attached for duty in the field 25 October 1918. He was discharged 19 July 1919.

Fate:   Returned from Kantara, Egypt, to Australia per HT Orari, 16 May 1919. He married Helena Agnes Hungerford ('Lena'), 8 April 1920, St Leonards, NSW.
