Son of Annie Upton of Goulburn Street, Hobart, Tasmania.
10 May 1915 - enlisted at Claremont, Tasmania, with the 26th Battalion and with the rank of Private.
18 August 1915 - transferred to the 4th Field Company Engineers.
18 October 1915 - transferred to the 2nd Division Field Company Engineers.
26 March 1916 - transferred to the 4th Field Company Engineers with the rank of Sapper.
13 April 1916 - promoted to the rank of Driver.
12 March 1917 - commenced return to Australia aboard HT Beltana disembarking on 12 May 1917 at Melbourne for onward travel to Hobart.
Medals: 1914-1915 Star, British War Medal, Victory Medal
13 July 1917 - discharged at the 6th Military District as medically unfit due to heart issues.
