"...6741 Private Charles William Thomas Gray of Fern Tree, Tas. A bushman before enlisting in July 1916, Pte Gray formed part of the 22nd Reinforcements of the 12th Battalion along with his older brother 6737 Pte Victor Gray. Charles Gray was killed during the German attack at Lagnicourt on 15 April 1917. Victor Gray died five days before at Bullecourt." - SOURCE (www.awm.gov.au)

6741, Charles William Thomas Gray of Kingston of  Tasmania, Australia was born on the 6th of January 1896. Before the war, he went to Neika State School. He lived in Hobart, Tasmania with his Father, John Gray. Charles was a bushman/farmer before enlisting as a Private on the 17th of July 1916 in Claremont, Tas.  Charles was killed in action on the 15th of April 1917 during the German attack in Lagnicourt, France at 21 years of age. The last unit Charles was in before he died was the 12th Infantry Battalion. The location of his Memorial is in Villers Bretonneux Memorial, Villers Bretonneux, Picardie, France.
