Biography contributed by Wendy Ambrose

Robert Bruce 'Bob' McMillan (1882-1971) was one particular individual who was very talented, astute and capable. All who knew of him and associated with him spoke of him with reverance and were ever ready to speak of his stirling qualities.

In the days of the horse and buggy a blacksmith was an important tradesman. Bob's family property 'Rosebank' had the facilites Bob required to hone these skills. He was self taught and built numerous horse-drawn vehicles as an example of his talents.

Around 1910 he prepared and entered a 'Rosebank Station' exhibit in the local Eugowra Agricultural Show. The display included all rural porduce grown on the station. All were of first class quality and included a variety of products uncommon for growing in the Eugowra climate. A few examples: olives, walnuts, figs, grapes along with vegetables and flowers of all descriptions. It was a very unique presentation.

What sorrow for the family when infomed of Robert's death, which also left an entire community in mourning. Robert's younger brother Vivian Ernest and nephew Roy Alexander also lost their lives in WW1. The family suffered a great loss to the spoils of war and 3 adored men were never to return home again.
