George  was born in Bendigo, Victoria on 2nd June 1898 under the name George Thomas Andrew Anthony VAFIOPULOUS

His parents were John Marinea VAFIOPULOUS & Mary CARTER

He enlisted in Adelaide on 26th March, 1917 and embarked from Melbourne on the HMAT Themistocles on 4th August, 1917 with the 50th Infantry Battalion, 10th Reinforcements

He returned to Australia on 23rd September, 1918 and was discharged on 1st February, 1919

George married and died under the name George Alfred VAPP on 18th November, 1980 and was cremated in Enfield, South Australia

He married Meta Louise SCHUMACHER on 29th July, 1921 in the Registry Office in Adelaide, South Australia
