DEATHS
DINGLE.—October 16, 1929, at his residence, No. 8 Childs-street, Lidcombe, Benjamin Martin Dingle (late stationmaster at Parramatta), beloved husband of Mary Ann Dingle, in his 76th year.

MR. B. M. DINGLE
Mr. B. M Dingle, an old resident of Lidcombe, died at his residence, 8 Childs-street, recently, at the age of 75 years. Born in Cornwall, England, Mr. Dingle, with his wife and family, came to New South Wales in 1877, and soon afterwards joined the railway service as porter at Murrurundi. He subsequently was stationmaster at Currabubula, Boggabri, Guyra, Quirindi, Nyngan, Cobar, Liverpool, and Parramatta, retiring from the service in 1912. Mr. Dingle is survived by Mrs. Dingle, two daughters, and three sons. Two of his sons were killed at the war in 1916. The funeral took place in the Methodist portion of Rookwood Cemetery.

Biography

Volo Vincent Adams DINGLE was born on 27 Apr 1887 at Boggabri, NSW

His parents were Benjamin Martin DINGLE and Mary Ann ADAMS who married in England & arrived in Australia in 1877

He enlisted on 21st July 1915 with the Australian Army - He was with the 13th Battalion, 10th reinforcements - Unit embarked from Sydney on board HMAT Ballarat on 6th September 1915

Volo was Killed in Action on 12th August 1916 when he was in a gun pit on the front line at Mouquet Farm in France and he was killed by an enemy shell - No known grave - he is commemorated at Villers Bretonneux Memorial & the Australian War Memorial.   His brother Corporal Clio Claris Vale Dingle was also killed on 30th August, 1916

He played a part, though but small, He died a hero and loved by all. In an honourable and noble soldiers grave. - Inserted by his ever loving Father, Mother, Sisters & Brothers.

BRAVE BROTHERS WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES

Lance Corporal Volo V. A. Dingle, killed in action 12th August - also his brother Clio C. V. Dingle, killed in action 30th August

They were respectively the fourth and youngest sons of Mr. & Mrs. B Dingle of Child St Lidcombe.  They were mates at home together, they enlisted at the same time and together they remained right through. They died wihthin 18 days of each other - True Heroes.
