Son of J McINTYRE, Wallacedale via Condah, Vic.

Leslie enlisted as a Private on the 31st of July, 1915, and embarked with the 11th Reinforcements to the 8th Battalion on the transport Nestor on the 11th of October.   While in Egypt, he was taken on strength of the 6th Battalion at Serepeum on the 22nd of February, 1916.  He proceeded to France the following month, and, on the 31st of July, was promoted to Corporal.  On the 13th of August, 1918, he was sent to the Officer Cadet Battalion, New College, Oxford, and was promoted to commissioned rank on the 4th of January, 1919.  He returned to Australia on the transport Raranga in October 1919.  He had fought at Posieres, wintered on the Somme, and been engaged at Bullecourt and Strazeele.  Prior to enlisting he was teaching at School No. 3460, Hazeldene.
