The Forgotten Soldier

I call him the forgotten soldier because it took 82 years to have his name added to the War Memorial on North Terrace Adelaide. This was achieved through the dedicated efforts of Kennewell relatives that he was finally acknowledged for his service to his country.

Mrs. Mary Boehme, of Peterborough, has been officially informed that her son, Cpl. Oliver O Kennewell, was killed In action in France on April 8. The deceased joined the colours from Brisbane, Queensland, in March, 1916. He was 21 years of age at the time of his death. Previous to his enlistment he was a stockman on a large Station in Queensland.
