News and Notes, Death of Soldier Reported Word was received last week of the death of Lieut. W. Purvis, of Homewood. Some months ago word was received that he was reported ' missing' From that time until last week further news concerning him received. At the time Lt. Purvis enlisted he was a councilor for the West Riding, leave of absence being granted., seat at the Council table is now occupied by Cr T. McLeish. On the sad news becoming known flags at the Shire hall and other places were hoisted at half mast and everywhere much sympathy was expressed for his relatives
