Peter Jacob Christopher PEUT was born in Mount Morgan, Queensland on 10th December, 1888

His parents were Johann (John) PEUT & Emma Paulina Catherine HEINRICH

He enlisted in Cairns on 28th October, 1916 and embarked from Sydney on 24th January, 1917 with the 15th Infantry Battalion, 14th Reinforcements on the HMAT Ayrshire

He was wounded in action on 28th March, 1918 with shrapnel wounds to his legs during the Battle of Hebuterne & admitted to the 2nd 1st West Riding Field Ambulance and then transferred to the No. 3 Canadian Station Hospital in Doullens , France where he later died from his wounds on 31st March, 1918

Peter is buried in the Doullens Communal Cemetery & his name is memorialised on the Australian War Memorial

He was awarded the Military Medal "For bravery in the field"
