Son of Alfred George Verry and Ellen Mary Gamack formerly Verry nee Comerford of Yangan, QLD.
Brother of Reginald Herbert Verry who was killed in action on 5 April 1918 while serving with the 49th Battalion and is buried in the Dernancourt Communal Cemetery Extension, Plot V1, Row H, Grave 2.
Commenced return to Australia on 1 April 1919 aboard HT Shropshire as an invalid disembarking on 16 May 1919 at Melbourne. On 17 May 1919 he embark HT Dongala for Brisbane
