Distinguished Conduct Medal

For his coolness and gallantry in rescuing a wounded man under fire.  Whilest returning from a successful raid on the enemy's trenches, S. of Armetieres on the night of 25-26/6/16 Pte Robinson a member of the Raiding Party was wounded by machine gun fire next to him.  Sgt. Camden was assisting Robinson in, when Pte. Jackson came to his help.  When some distance from our trenches a shell exploded blowing off Pte. Jackson's right arm wouding robinson again, knocking St. Camden down and temporarily rendering him unconscious.  When he recovered Ptd. Jackson was not there, so Sgt. Camden again went to the assistance of Robinson and was bringing him in by himself when another man came to his help and together Robinson was got into our trenches.

When just outside our Salley Port Pte Jackson was met coming out again with the assitance for Robonson and Sgt. Camden.  After handing Robinson over Sgt. Camden collapsed and had to be assisted into our trenches.  This N.C.O. had as all times both as a member of Raiding Party and in his Battn displayed great coolness and dash in his scouting.
