Son of Elisha Nicholas Semmens and Eliza Semmens nee Lorey of Robsart Street, Parkside, SA. Brother of Eliza Semmens, Ellizabeth Anne Semmens and Edith Semmens

Commenced return to Australia on 19 October 1918 aboard HT Sardinia but failed to re-embarked at Durban, South Africa. Later re-embarked on 4 Janaury 1919 aboard HT Saxon for continue passage to Australia disembarking on 30 January 1919 at Melbourne for onward travel to Adelaide

Medals: 1914-15 Star, British War Medal, Victory Medal

On 24 September 1919 Elisha married Annie May Smith at the residence of B. Aitken of Forestville, SA. Father of Hazel May Semmens

At the time of his death he was residing in Glandore, SA
