William George BALL

Born California Gully, near Bendigo Vic. Enlisted 24.11.14 aged 20 years 9 months. Posted to 23rd Bn AIF. Joined 23rd Bn on Gallipoli 29.9.15. Killed in Action 21.11.15, aged 21 and buried in Brown'e Dip Cemetery by Chaplain A.P. Bladen (or Bladden). Body exhumed and shifted to Lone Pine Cemetery 1923. His mother Catherine Ball has noted on his memorial scroll, held at the Aust War Memorial that he was a cousin of Captain W. Symons, Victoria Cross winner. His brother 3597 Pte Reginald Arthur John Ball was also KIA, 21.9.18 in France.
