Tocumwal Guardian 22 November 1918. Late Private William Huggard.

Mr S. Huggard, Tocumwal, is in receipt of the following communication from the Commanding Officer of the 37th Battalion, in reference to the death of his son, which was reported in our columns some time back:—'France, September 10, 1918. Dear Sir, It is with regret I have to inform you that your son, No. 904, Private William Birney Huggard, was killed in action on the 26 August, 1918.

Permit me, on behalf of the officers, N.C.O’s., and men of the battalion, to offer to you and all his dear ones our sincerest and deepest sympathy. Your son had served with the battalion since it was formed in Australia, and had endeared himself to us all by his never-failing cheerfulness, often under trying conditions, and loyalty and devotion to duty, worthily upholding at all times the best traditions of the A.I.F.’
