Biography contributed by VWM Australia

He has no known grave

The information regarding his burial on page 35 of his NAA service record appears in the consolidation documentation attached to the record of Private Ernest Bohanna (Service Number 588515).

The Commission’s Grave Registration documents for Pozières British Cemetery confirm that initially there was  a form of commemoration for Private Purser within the cemetery, which took the form of a memorial cross rather than an actual grave marker.

Subsequent review determined there was no confirmed burial of his remains at this location.

It was therefore concluded that Private Stanley Newton Purser had no known grave, and commemoration by name on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial — a Memorial to the Missing — was deemed appropriate.
