"... 182 Lance Corporal William George Hastings, B Company, 11th Battalion, of Perth, WA (originally of Gosford, NSW). LCpl Hastings enlisted on 27 August 1914, and embarked from Fremantle aboard HMAT Ascanius on 2 November 1914. He was later promoted to the rank of second lieutenant. He was killed in action on 22 July 1916 at Pozieres, France, age 39 years." - SOURCE (www.awm.gov.au)
