Brother of 6491 Private Rupert Henry Cox 16th Battalion AIF mortally wounded in the head by grenade fragments and taken prisoner at Bullecourt 11 April 1917. Died of wounds as a POW in Germany 26 April 1917.

"THE LATE PRIVATE J. COX
Private John Cox, who died of wounds received at Gallipoli on September 7, was the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. H. Cox, of Young-street, Parkside. He was born at Burra, and was 34 years of age.
