Grandfather I didn't know you

My sisters & brother were not told we had a Grandfather living in Melbourne. I was 21 years when I was told. Your story Grandfather was told when the girl you fell in love with in England during the 1st World War passed away suddenly in 1963. Her name was Mabel & the affair in London brought my Mother into the World, April 1918. I was told you married Mabel but you didn't. My gorgeous Nanna followed you to St Kilda Melbourne in 1920. Your Son Neil told me only a few years ago that she walked into the 'Post Office' Melbourne where you were working, with my Mum in her arms & said here we are!!!

Your Mum ( my Great Grandmother) so kindly took both of them into her home. My Nanna's heart must have been broken when you told her they couldn't be together. You were married.....Eventually Mabel moved to Sydney, she never returned to England. Grandfather you were still alive when I was told the story & I was young & I could not understand why you didn't look after my Nanna. Time has passed & I did go to Melbourne & meet your Son, sadly he has passed away, he also served his Country in World War2 in the Navy. Lionel Charles Harper, you served your Country & I'm so proud of you, my family know your story, you are forever in all our hearts.

My next Trip to Melbourne I want to visit your resting place, I hope I can find where that is.....
