Albert James 'John' O'Brien or 'Nugget' to his acquaintances fought in the 11th Battalion and was badly gassed before being taken prisoner by the German army. Nugget, wife Janet and baby Jean arrived in the Dumbleyung Estate in 1922. Their living conditions, a four roomed weatherboard house with white washed wassls, as typical. Five more children were born - william, Mavis, Betty, Phillis and Nancy.
