He was a well-respected general Practitioner in Ipswich, Queensland. He passed away 30 March 1957. His memory persists in Ipswich to this day with the naming of the Basil Hart ward at St Andrews Ipswich Private Hospital, where he was a proprietor and one of the original Directors.
