Military Cross
'For conspicuous gallantry and resource on the night of the 1st-2nd September 1918, when he manoeuvred his battery under heavy shell fire into a most difficult position through shell holes and barbed wire, and laid out the lines of fire. On the following night an amunition waggon was hit by a shell, all the drivers wounded and the team bolted. Despite the heavy shelling and darkness, he went in search of the team, and, although one mule was dead and the rest wounded. he succeeded in bringing the ammunition back to the battery.'
