Date unknown: | Honoured Military Medal, Recommendation date: 18 August 1918 'During the advance upon the BLUE LINE on the morning of the 10th August 1918 Private O'SHEA evinced courage of the highest order. When two of our Stretcher Bearers were both sniped (one being killed) in attemepting to bring in a badly wounded man across ground swept with rifle and Machine Gun fire, Private O'SHEA rushed out and succeeded in bringing in the wounded man. He then returned and brought in the wounded Stretcher Bearer. He continued bring in our wounded until he himself was severely wounded by an enemy sniper.' GSW to right thigh. Hospitalized for 4 months and invalided home.
Returned to Australia 3 March 1919
