John Ambrose Ryan was the brother of 2671 Pte. Andrew Ryan 3rd Battalion AIF, killed in action near Pozieres 21 July 1916, age 29 and 945 Pte. Patrick Ryan M.M. 33rd Battalion AIF, who returned to Australia in 1919. Their father Michael also passed away in 1918.
