BALLARAT AND DISTRICT MEN
PRIVATE OSCAR LONSDALE
The sad news has been conveyed by the Rev. R. E. Saunders to Mrs J. Lonsdale, of Linton, that her third son, Pte Oscar Lonsdale, was killed in action on 3rd April. He enlisted on 3rd March, 1916, and  sailed with the sixth reinforcements to the 46th Battalion. He was a splendid stamp of Australia soldier, and of bright and cheerful disposition. His younger brother, Pte Steve Lonsdale, is in France on  active service. Mr W. R. Rogers, of the Post Office staff, Ballarat, is a brother-in-law of the deceased soldier.
