Son of Alfred Albert Hodges and Masie Maria Lovell. Born at Cawdor, via Toowoomba, in 1897, and educated at Cawdor. Enlisted on 9th September, 1915, and sailed for Egypt on 28th March, 1916. After four months went to England and thence to France. Wounded at Fleurs, Messines and Cappy, and was also gassed at Messines. Was on active service at the time of the signing of the Armistice, was then three months in Belgium, and left for Australia through England, arriving on 6th August, 1919.
