After training with the 3rd training battalion Private Kennion Mosely Fowles embarked from Melbourne 27th June 1916 arriving at strength on the 31st of October 1916 in France.
Private Kennion Mosely Fowles fought with the 48th Battalion on the Western Front until he was reported missing on the 11th of April 1917 but later found to be wounded (right arm and right hip), captured and taken prisoner of war and was in hospital in Germany.
When the war ended Private Fowles was moved to Derbyshire in England.
Private Fowles left Derbyshire England for Australia on the 12th of April 1919.
As a soldier settler at Lake Leake years later, he was invited to a reunion at Mount Gambier, the organiser was Dr. Hawkins, the doctor who looked after Private Fowles whilst in Derbyshire in England.
