Captain Edward Yeoland Butler, 12th Battalion, H Company from Perth, WA.

A 39 year old civil servant prior to his enlistment on 17 August 1915 as a Lieutenant. He embarked for overseas duty from Fremantle #OTD in 1914 on board HMAT Medic.

He was promoted to Captain on 20 February 1916 and returned to Australia on 23 July 1919.

Butler is wearing the Anzac 'A' badge on his colour patch indicating he served in the Gallipoli campaign. (AWM
