Biography

"Mr. and Mrs. J. H. McLeod, of Heussler-terrace, Milton, have received the sad news from the military headquarters, Melbourne, that Private Aleck Tate, who was reported wounded and missing, was killed in action in France on June 7, 1917, being shot through the chest. Private Tate had been on active service one year and seven months. Prior to enlistment he was an employee of Denham Brothers, Roma-street, city, for several years." - from the Queenslander 23 Mar 1918 (nla.gov.au)
