Son of Edward James and Amelia Marie BIRKILL, 12 Geelong Road, Footscray, Victoria

Private "Arch" Birkill, of E. Company, 7th Battalion, who was killed in action at the Dardanelles, was the second son of Mr and Mrs E. J. Birkill, of 6 Sheppard street, West Footscray. He enlisted at the first call for volunteers, and celebrated his 21st birthday while in camp at Broadmeadows on the 15th of October last., He' was well known in sporting circles locally, for some years being; a playing member of the Footscray Junior Football Club. His brother, Lance-Corp. Alf. Birkill, is also on active service.
