Group came under fire by a German party resulting in Alexander taking a bullet in the head. He was origianally thought to have been taken as Prisoner of War but this was later proved incorrect

Son of Alex Boswell Armstrong and Mary Sophia Armstrong, of 189, Lane Cove Rd., North Sydney. Step-brother 5650 Arthur Rex Armstrong, 4th Bn, died of disease, 2 July 1916 and was buried at sea near Durban, South Africa. Brother of Kathleen Armstrong
