The Minmi Roll of Honour has 79 names inscribed of those who returned home from The Great War.

The 48th name inscribed is Private John Francis Paddick.

On the 7th November 1940, Private John Francis Paddick, 4th Battalion (Reg No-1639), miner from Newtown, Minmi, New South Wales, died at Murrurundi, N.S.W., age possibly 68.

Could not locate definitively place or date of burial.
Born at Moree, New South Wales about 1872 or 1874 to John and Mary Paddick; husband of Alice Paddick, married?, died?, John enlisted on the 3rd March 1916 with the 34th Battalion, stated age 42 years 1 month, at Newcastle, N.S.W.

Unit embarked from Sydney, New South Wales on board HMAT A20 Hororata on the 2nd May 1916.

Disembarked Plymouth, England 23.6.1916.

Transferred to 4th Battalion 16.9.1916.

Proceeded O/Seas to France from Southampton, England 16.9.1916.

Admitted to hospital 25.10.1916 (bronchitis).

Commenced return to Australia 23.5.1917.

John arrived home on the 20th July 1917, being discharged medically unfit (senility) on the 21st August 1917.

Not officially commemorated.

Mr. Paddick’s name has been inscribed on the Minmi Roll of Honour as PADDOCKS.
