The details provided are taken from the book "Stealth Raiders - a few daring men in 1918" written by Lucas Jordan, published 2017, refer to pages 43, 223 & 276. Prior to the war he was a schoolteacher of Blayney NSW. He enlisted 3rd Feb 1916 aged 25 years. He served with the 53rd Infantry Battalion, rising to the rank of Lieutenant, and was awarded a Military Cross for actions as an Officer. He survived the war, departing the UK for home 8th Jan 1919.

'For conspicuous gallantry in action. He personally led an attack on an enemy strong point that was enfilading the flank of the battalion. Several of the enemy were killed and ten prisoners and two machine guns were captured. He set an inspiring example of dash and courage to the men under his command.'
