Son of George Barnes Hogg and Catherine Hogg nee Dooley of Hawke Street, West Melbourne, Victoria formerly of Stawell, Victoria
Returned to Australia about nine years after the war ended telling his mother that he had memory loss and could not remember being a soldier. He was not entitled to any medals as he was considered to be an illegal absentee since April 1916
