Add my storyBiography contributed by Geoffrey Gillon
He was 31 and the son of Samuel and Mary Fraser Hyslop Morrison, of 59, Bell St., Wanganui, New Zealand.
He is remembered on the Harris War Memorial situated by the Main Street, overlooking East Loch Tarbert, Isle of Harris, Scotland. The memorial is a castle-like structure in a garden. [post code HS3 3DJ] . The many WW1 names are inscribed on three plaques. Of the 112 names only 10 do not begin with the latter M!
The Isle of Harris is in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland. World War I left an indelible mark on the islands. The Second War did not claim as many lives, but its aftermath was not dissimilar.
Many of the casualties lived away from the island by the time they joined up, whether it be elsewhere in the United Kingdom or overseas.
