Sidney Edwin Bartholomew was born in the town of Midland Junction, Western Australia. His religion was of the Church of Christ and he worked as a businessman before the war broke out. After battle rang out, he found himself enlisted in 20/09/1915. He had trained for almost a full year in Britain before being shipped to aid in the war effort.
On 30 September 1917 he was wounded in action at Polygon Wood near Ypres. He spent a few months recovering in England and then several more months in training camps, before returning to France in September 1918. He served his remaining time with the 30th Battalion. He returned to Australia late in 1919.
Between the wars, he got married to one A.L Batholomew, and he had at least one child named Ade Adeline Bartholomew. However, when war broke out again, he enlisted on the 24/05/1942. He was promoted quickly to Warrant Officer. But confusingly, he reverted his rank multiple times, sometimes having reverted to the same rank twice in a row without having records of a promotion. After the war, he stayed in the Army Reserve.
The following years of his life are largely unknown, but he is known to have died at 93 in Marion, SA. He now rests in Centennial Park Cemetery and resides on West Rose Bed W67 129.
