"TO THE GLORY OF GOD AND IN LOVING MEMORY OF MY HUSBAND CHARLES OXLEY PIESSE, LIEUTENANT 11TH BATTALION, A.I.F. WHO DIED OF WOUNDS AT ROUEN IN FRANCE ON 7th DECEMBER, 1917"
