Biography contributed by Geoffrey Gillon
He was 26 and the son of John and Mary Thomson, of Rae St., Dumfries, Scotland.
He is one of two Australian casualties commemorated on the Dumfries Town memorial which stands outside St John's Church, Lovers Walk, Dumfries. It takes the form of a figure of Scottish soldier in service dress with head bowed and reversed rifle, on square granite monument with a fluted pillar at each corner. There are 216 men listed for World War 1 and 336 for World War 2.
The other being Corporal James Fleming, Service Number 3520 of the 51st Bn. Australian Infantry, A.I.F. who died 16/08/1916.
